Director of Sports Medicine, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery of the Shoulder, Knee and Hip
Dr. Sileo is a native of Garden City, Long Island and graduated magna cum laude from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1998. He subsequently earned his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook in 2002. His post-graduate training included a surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook, where he was selected by the faculty to serve as administrative chief resident his final year. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he served as assistant team orthopedist to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter University. Dr. Sileo has published extensively on shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, complex knee ligamentous injuries, and achilles tears. He has presented his clinical research at both regional and national meetings. Dr. Sileo is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery for both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (FAAOS).
Dr. Sileo has a particular interest in the care of both the competitive and recreational athlete. He is actively involved in the community, and can frequently be found taking care of athletes on the sideline of several local football teams. He specializes in the arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee injuries, but has extensive experience in most areas of both operative and non-operative orthopedics. Dr. Sileo is one of the few orthopaedic surgeons in the tri-state area who routinely performs hip arthroscopy for the minimally invasive treatment of hip labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement. Dr. Sileo's practice emphasizes both rehabilitation as well as training to prevent sports related injuries. His other areas of interest include the treatment of cartilage and meniscal injuries, shoulder arthroplasty, and fracture care. Dr. Sileo currently serves as Director for the Division of Sports Medicine at St. Charles Hospital, and serves as Treasurer of the St. Charles Medical Staff.

"I usually don’t like submitting reviews online BUT I think the staff is excellent! My knees had been a real problem for me BEFORE I started using this group. Dr. Sileo and Richard have been amazing in finding treatments to give me relief and I can walk again without being in extreme discomfort. Thanks a million for giving me my life (knees) back!! I will be your patient forever!!"
